Ride the Timucuan Trail
A work in progress, the Timucuan Trail, is a 10 ft wide paved trail off the main road. The ultimate plan is to be able to ride from Hanna Park in Jacksonville to Amelia Island. Right now there are 6 miles on Amelia Island that connect with 4 miles on Big Talbot Island State Park (includes Nassau Sound Bridge). The trail is great for biking or hiking. There are a couple side trails thru the maritime forest. Don't forget to check out 'Boneyard Beach, one of the most photographed places in the area!
$7/hr or $20/day, no reservations required. Bikes rented from our Talbot Island State park location can ride the trail north thru Big Talbot Island State Park across the Nassau Sound Bridge and connect with the Amelia Island trail.
Rentals from our Gift Shop in Fernandina Beach can explore the downtown historic district, ride 1.5 miles east to Ft. Clinch State park or Egans Creek Greenway.
Naturalis led tour thru Big Talbot Island State Park, on gently rolling nature trails through tree hammocks, pine flats, and ancient dunes systems teeming with Florida's diverse wild residents. $45pp up to 20 bikers, 2 hours long.
